Veneers, Crowns & Bridges
Veneers are like slip covers that are specifically created for each tooth to cover the front part of your tooth. A crown, simply put comes and sits on top of your tooth, covering it completely. A bridge is something we create to cover more than one tooth and /or any gaps in between teeth.
Veneers
Porcelain Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain that adhere to teeth to restore a natural looking smile.
The Porcelain Design is an alternative for smile design where the preparation of the teeth is less conservative than the Resin Design obtaining in this way greater durability, greater aesthetics and preservation of it.
Veneers can be used as a cosmetic solution for:
– Gaps between teeth
– Broken, chipped or cracked teeth
– Badly stained or coloured teeth
– Crooked or irregularly shaped teeth
– Reshape misaligned teeth
– Aesthetically displeasing fillings
2. Crowns:
A dental crown, or cap, is a restoration that can be used for a number of purposes. One of the most common uses of a dental crown is to restore a tooth that is significantly damaged or decayed. The crown is custom made to fit over the entire tooth, starting at the gum line, in order to restore the tooth to its original shape and size. Dental crowns can be made of gold, porcelain, or porcelain fused to metal; porcelain crowns are popular because they match the natural color and appearance of your teeth. Our dentist will help you determine which type of dental crown is right for your smile.
Your smile may benefit from a crown if a tooth is damaged or decayed to the point that a dental filling will not provide a successful restoration. Crowns can also be used for a number of other restorative and aesthetic purposes, including:
To protect a tooth following root canal treatment
To anchor and attach a dental bridge
To cover and complete a dental implant
To enhance the beauty of your smile
To improve a misshapen tooth
To strengthen a tooth that is fractured or weakened
To support a large filling when little natural tooth structure remains
3. Bridges:
If you are missing one or more teeth you may need a bridge. Gaps left by missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to drift, rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. This can also lead to gum disease and jaw joint disorders.
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap.
A bridge is essentially a fixture that is made to replace existing teeth. A replacement tooth is inserted into the gap created by a missing tooth. A crown is placed on the replacement tooth and is fixed to the crowns placed on the adjacent teeth on both sides. This creates a bridge of crowns which is supported by the healthy teeth present on either side of the missing tooth, holding the latter in place. Bridges are permanent fixtures and are custom made to fit individual needs and requirements. In most cases, a dental bridge is made out of ceramic (tooth coloured enamel) or gold.
